BOGOR - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi is optimistic that the Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) can strengthen again after experiencing pressure.
Prasetyo said the government assessed that the momentum of the decline in the JCI was the starting point for a thorough overhaul of the national capital market.
"Bismillah today can go up. We have to be optimistic, we have to be sure. It's for the benefit of all of us, right," said Prasetyo as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 2.
He said the government had held a press conference led by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto together with the ranks of related ministries and agencies in Jakarta on Sunday (1/2).
The meeting was also attended by the interim officials (Pjs) of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), following the resignation of three OJK members so that the Board of Commissioners appointed interim officials.
According to the Minister of Law and Human Rights, the event is expected to be a momentum to improve the capital market ecosystem, including regulatory improvements.
The government, under the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, is committed to reform to make the Indonesian stock market more open, transparent, and credible.
"Several things are in accordance with the instructions of the President, then a decision is made for us to reform ourselves, improve ourselves so that our stock market becomes more open, more transparent, credible, with the hope that this will have a class equivalent to other stock exchange markets in the world," he said.
Prasetyo said that at this time, the most important thing is to understand the causes of the decline in the JCI. Furthermore, the government will find solutions to the problem.
"We need to understand what underlies the occurrence, the decline in the JCI is very significant, right. Well, that's what we are looking for a way out," added Prasetyo.
