JAKARTA - The Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi said that the establishment of PT Perusahaan Mineral Nasional (Perminas) by Danantara Indonesia was in accordance with the direction of President Prabowo Subianto.
"(The establishment of Perminas) is actually (the order) from the President. So that we are expected to be able to manage our minerals, especially strategic minerals. That is why Danantara is asked to form one entity," he said when met at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, Friday, January 30.
When asked why the government did not optimize MIND ID or other subsidiaries, Prasetyo said Perminas was formed to focus on the management of critical minerals.
"(Perminas) was just to manage critical minerals. What else should be explained? It's simple, isn't it. There are many minerals, there are already managed, there are companies. This is specifically for critical minerals," he said.
Previously, Danantara Indonesia formed a national mineral company named Perminas to manage mineral mines whose mining business permit (IUP) was revoked by President Prabowo Subianto.
Meanwhile, Prabowo has revoked the permits of 28 companies in Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, which are engaged in the mining, forestry and plantation sectors.
One of the mines on the list is the Martabe Gold Mine in South Tapanuli, North Sumatra, which is managed by PT Agincourt Resources, a subsidiary of the Astra Group.
Danantara's Chief Operating Officer (COO), Dony Oskaria, said Perminas is a new entity that will be the government's vehicle in managing the transferred mining assets.

Dony explained that the transfer of mine management to Danantara was carried out by considering Danantara's role as a government-owned business manager.

Furthermore, Dony emphasized that Perminas was not under the mining BUMN holding MIND ID, but rather stood as a separate company under Danantara.

Regarding coordination with the Astra Group as the parent company of Agincourt Resources, Dony said that it was not the authority of Danantara.
