Rupiah has the opportunity to strengthen, the US dollar is dragged by the "Sell America" action

JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 is expected to strengthen against the US dollar.

To note, quoting Bloomberg, on Tuesday, January 27, the spot rupiah exchange rate closed up 0.08 percent to Rp16,768 per US dollar.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) exchange rate of the Bank Indonesia (BI) closed down 0.13 percent to the price level of Rp16,801 per US dollar.

Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong said that the rupiah is expected to strengthen against the US dollar which has weakened quite sharply.

"The rupiah is expected to strengthen against the US dollar which has weakened quite sharply," he told VOI, Wednesday, January 28.

In addition, he added that this weakening of the US dollar was reflected in the US dollar index which reached its lowest level in almost four years, as the 'sell America' action continued.

"The US dollar index reached its lowest level in almost 4 years amid continued sell America trade," he said.

Lukman estimates that the movement of the rupiah on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 will be in the range of Rp16,650-Rp16,800 per US dollar.
