JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) together with Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo and Regent of Aceh Tamiang Armia Pahmi inaugurated seven temporary housing blocks (huntara) in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province, today.
The seven huntara blocks that were inaugurated will be used by 84 heads of households (KK) affected by flash floods and landslides at the end of November 2025.
To note, the huntara that was inaugurated is in Gampong Bundar, Karang Baru District, precisely behind the Aceh Tamiang Regent's Office. The residence stands on a land area of 5,427 square meters with a total building area of 2,052 square meters.
The Huntara, which consists of seven residential blocks and a mosque, is under the responsibility of the Strategic Infrastructure Directorate General of the Ministry of PU with the construction contractor PT Wijaya Karya.
The modular building structure of 114 modules built into 84 units can accommodate around 336 people, complete with 42 units of MCK, multifunctional communal areas, drying areas, prayer rooms, generators and water towers.
The clean water support system also comes from boreholes and tanks, the treatment of dirty water using a biotech system and electricity supply from PLN.
Menko AHY conveyed his appreciation to the PU Ministry for its quick and measured work in providing temporary housing for affected residents.
According to him, the presence of huntara is not only answering the need for housing, but also becoming a driving force to accelerate the recovery of the region and people's lives after the disaster.
"This is an important trigger so that the rehabilitation and reconstruction process can continue to run faster, more coordinated and sustainable," said AHY in an official statement, quoted Friday, January 23.
Meanwhile, Minister PU Dody emphasized that the construction of the residence was part of the recovery phase which was carried out gradually and planned, with the main focus on meeting the basic needs of the community.
"Construction is carried out with a modular approach so that it can be inhabited quickly while still paying attention to comfort, sanitation, and basic facilities to support the residents' lives," he said.
"Our goal is to ensure that residents can return to their daily activities more safely and decently," he continued.
One of the residents who received the huntara, named Nur Syamsiah, admitted that her family's living conditions were much better than when they had to live in evacuation tents.
"Previously I lived in a tent, I often coughed because it was cold and humid at night, the dust in the afternoon. Now, thank God, I have a more decent place to live," he said.
With the inauguration of the huntara for the 84 KK, it is hoped that the affected community can immediately leave the emergency evacuation site and undergo recovery with more humane, safe and dignified housing conditions.
For information, currently the PU Ministry has been entrusted to build 1,200 units of huntara as an effort to recover the Sumatra disaster. For Aceh Tamiang, 84 units have been completed and 2 huntara with 156 units are in the completion phase.
Huntara 2 was built on a location not far from Huntara 1 on an area of 13,248 square meters with a total building area of 3,780 square meters. The huntara consists of 210 modules installed for three residential blocks and one mosque for 156 KK or about 624 people, with support for 78 toilet units and 78 bathroom units to maintain sanitation and environmental health.
