JAKARTA - The Bank Indonesia Prompt Manufacturing Index (PMI BI) recorded the performance of the processing industry at 51.86 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025 or increased compared to the previous quarter which was recorded at 51.66 percent.

The increase in the BI PMI was driven by expansion (above 50 percent) in most of its components, including production volume of 53.46 percent, the volume of finished goods inventory of 53.46 percent, and the total volume of orders of 53.31 percent.

However, there are still two components that are in the contraction zone (below 50 percent), namely the speed of receiving input goods at 49.32 percent and the number of workers at 48.80 percent.

"The number of labor components recorded an improvement in the index in the fourth quarter of 2025 by 48.80 percent compared to the previous period of 48.70 percent, although it is still in the contraction zone," said the BI report, Monday, January 19.

Based on the Sub-Business Field (Sub-LU), the majority of sectors are recorded in the expansion phase.

Meanwhile, the highest index was achieved by the paper and paper goods, printing, and reproduction of recorded media industries with a 56.71 percent achievement.

This was followed by the non-metallic mineral industry at 54.33 percent and the food and beverage industry at 54.06 percent.

In addition, the furniture industry as well as the textile and garment industries also showed improved performance reflected by the respective sector indices recorded at 52.35 percent and 50.19 percent, up from the previous period which was in the contraction zone at the level of 43.88 percent and 48.29 percent.
