BNI Cleans Darul Aman Mosque after Flood in Agam

JAKARTA - PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BNI has also accelerated the social recovery of people affected by flash floods in West Sumatra by cleaning mud and flood debris at the Darul Aman Mosque, Jorong Toboh, Nagari Malalak, Agam Regency. This step is taken to ensure that the worship facilities can be used safely and comfortably by the residents.

The cleaning activity is part of post-disaster recovery efforts focused on public facilities of strategic value for the social and religious life of the community. Darul Aman Mosque was previously affected by flash floods that brought mud and materials to the main area of the building, thus disrupting worship activities and social activities of the surrounding residents.

BNI Corporate Secretary Okki Rushartomo said that the restoration of worship facilities was a priority because mosques had an important role as a center of religious activity as well as a social space for the community.

"Through this activity, BNI hopes to help the community to return to carrying out worship and social activities safely and comfortably, as well as accelerating the post-disaster recovery process," Okki said in a written statement, Wednesday, January 14.

In its implementation, BNI synergized with the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) through the BUMN Peduli program entitled One Heart for Sumatra under the coordination of Danantara Indonesia. A number of facilities and resources were deployed to support the cleaning process so that it could run effectively and be coordinated.

Okki added that the activity was part of BNI's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program which was carried out sustainably according to the needs on the ground. This program not only includes initial cleaning, but also includes the possibility of renovating facilities and improving supporting facilities for worship if necessary.

"We hope that this support can help recreate a safe and comfortable environment, including in terms of the need for worship, so that people can return to normal activities," he said.

Through synergy with various stakeholders, BNI emphasizes its commitment to continue to play an active role in disaster management and supporting the social recovery of affected communities. This effort is expected to accelerate the process of restoring the lives of residents and strengthening social resilience in post-disaster areas.
