JAKARTA - The Langkahan Sub-District Capital Drinking Water Supply (SPAM) System in North Aceh Regency, Aceh Province, is back in operation as of today after the flash flood at the end of November 2025.

This was confirmed after the Aceh Building, Infrastructure and Area Arrangement Office (BPBPK) of the Ministry of PU and Perumda Tirta Pase's Cipta Karya Directorate General carried out emergency handling so that the system could continue to operate, including optimizing temporary intakes to maintain the continuity of drinking water services for the community.

Currently, IPA Langkahan is operating again up to 22 hours per day and serving the community's clean water needs in Langkahan and Tanah Jambo Aye Districts, with the number of active home connections (SR) reaching more than 3,600 SR.

SPAM IKK Langkahan itself is located in Simpang Tiga Village, Langkahan District, with a installed capacity of 20 liters per second. The Langkahan Water Treatment Plant (IPA) utilizes raw water sources from the Krueng Jambo Aye River.

"With the resumption of SPAM, the supply of clean water for thousands of residents can be met sustainably," said Minister PU Dody Hanggodo in a written statement, Friday, January 9.

According to Dody, the restoration of clean water services is the main priority in post-disaster handling.

"Clean water is a basic need that cannot be delayed, especially in disaster-affected areas," he said.

The functioning of SPAM IKK Langkahan is expected to help people return to activities in a healthier and safer way, as well as support social and economic recovery in North Aceh.

Dody said, his party continues to monitor the operation of SPAM IKK Langkahan and encourages the strengthening of the drinking water supply system in the future so that it is more reliable and resilient to disasters.

"This effort is in line with the government's commitment to ensure that basic infrastructure services are still present and the benefits are felt by the community, especially during the post-disaster recovery period," he added.

To note, flash floods in late November caused changes in river flow patterns and sedimentation around the SPAM IKK Langkahan intake building.

As a result, the process of taking raw water was interrupted.
