Bulog Towards a Presidential Agency, Rizal: Still Digested by Commission IV of the DPR

JAKARTA - Perum Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani conveyed the latest developments in the plan for Perum Bulog to be transformed into an agency under President Prabowo Subianto.

Currently, Rizal continued, the discussion is still being discussed in Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR).

"It is in the process of being processed in Commission IV of the DPR RI, it is being worked on. Last December there was a meeting in Yogyakarta, if I'm not mistaken, there was a follow-up meeting today. Please give me time. Insyaallah in the near future there will be certainty," said Rizal in a media briefing on Bulog's Crucial Achievement 2025 and Strategic Steps 2026 at the Bulog Office, South Jakarta, Friday, January 2.

Rizal explained that the plan to make Bulog a government agency was in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction to strengthen Bulog's role in maintaining national food security.

In the future, continued Rizal, Bulog will not only handle rice and corn, but also ensure the availability of other strategic food commodities.

"As expected by the President, Bulog is as successful as it was. Bulog not only handles basic foodstuffs, but also guarantees the availability of other food. Like his instructions on food independence. The name of independence is that we hold rice, eggs, meat, oil ourselves. It is held by ourselves, do not hold it for others," he said.

When asked whether Bulog would replace the existing body, Rizal emphasized that the decision was entirely in the hands of the DPR RI, especially Commission IV and Commission VI.

Bulog, he said, is ready to carry out any decision that is determined.

"This will be discussed later by Commission IV. We just order, ready to carry out our duties. Bulog is ready to carry out the duties of the government and the DPR RI Commission IV and VI," he said.
