JAKARTA - The Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) said that the reference price (HR) of cocoa beans for the period of January 2026 experienced a decrease which was influenced by an increase in supply from producer countries.
In a statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Thursday, January 1, Acting Director General of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade Tommy Andana said the HR of cocoa beans was set at 5,662.38 US dollars per MT, down 315.08 US dollars or 5.27 percent from the previous month.
This has an impact on the decline in the Export Reference Price (HPE) of cocoa beans in January 2026 which became 5,296 US dollars per MT, down 308 US dollars or 5.49 percent from the previous period.
"The decline in cocoa bean HR and HPE is influenced by the increase in cocoa bean supply along with the increase in production in the main producing countries in the West African region. This is due to improved weather which is not followed by an increase in demand," explained Tommy.
Tommy emphasized that other commodities such as HPE leather products for the period of January 2026 did not change from the previous month. Then, the pine gum commodity for the period of January 2026 increased by 27 US dollars or 3.24 percent compared to the period of December 2025.
On the other hand, HPE wood products for the period of January 2026 increased in several types of wood, namely veneer wood from natural forests and plantation forests; wooden sheets for packing boxes; and processed wood with a cross-section area of 1,000 1.00mm2-4,000 mm2 of meranti, merbau, mixed forest and other types of eboni, plantation forests of pine and gemelina, acasia, sengon, rubber, balsa, eucalyptus and other types.
Meanwhile, processed wood with a cross-section of 1,000-4,000 mm2 of teak type decreased.
Then, wood in chips or particles, chipwood, processed wood with a cross-section of 1,000-4,000 mm2 of the sungkai type of plantation forest, as well as special processed wood of the merbau type with a cross-section of 4,000-10,000 mm2 for the period of January 2026 will not change from the period of December 2025.
The determination of HR CPO, HR and HPE of cocoa beans, HPE of leather products, HPE of wood products, and HPE of pine sap for the period of 1-31 January 2026 is contained in the Minister of Trade Decree (Kepmendag) Number 2392 of 2025 concerning Export Reference Prices and Reference Prices for Agricultural and Forestry Products Subject to BK and tariffs for the services of the General Service Agency.
Meanwhile, refined, bleached, and deodorized (RBD) palm olein oil products in branded packaging and packaged with a net of ≤ 25 kg are subject to an exit fee of 0 US dollars per MT.
