KAI Records Nataru Ticket Sales Reaching 2.77 Million from 3.5 Million Seats

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI recorded ticket sales during the 2025 Christmas and New Year 2026 (Nataru) Transportation reached more than 2.77 million from a total of 3.5 million seats provided.

The achievement is an accumulation of sales for the period from December 18, 2025 to January 4, 2026.

"Sales reached 2,778,103 tickets until Saturday, December 24, 2025 at 08.00 WIB," said KAI Commuter Corporate Secretary Anne Purba in an official statement, Wednesday, December 24.

Anne said the details were that the sale of long-distance train tickets was recorded at 2,404,044 tickets, or 87.1 percent of the capacity of 2,761,048 seats.

"Meanwhile, the sale of local train tickets reached 374,059 tickets, equivalent to 50.2 percent of the total 745,056 seats," he said.

Anne said that during this Nataru period, KAI also provided a 30 percent discount on fares that were valid from December 22, 2025 to January 10, 2026, with a total of 1,509,080 seats prepared in the program.

"Until December 24, 2025 at 08.00 WIB, commercial economy train tickets with discounted fares have been sold for 983,670 or 65 percent," he said.

Previously, the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi invited the public to take advantage of the free motorcycle (motis) homecoming program by train during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holidays.

Based on data from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI, of a total quota for free homecoming by motorcycle with the train of 12,780 passengers and 5,568 motorcycles, only 41 percent was filled, so there is still about 59 percent of the quota.

"This program is to encourage people to use public transportation more, and also the hope that the use of two-wheeled vehicles on the road will decrease," said Dudy in a press conference at the Pasar Senen Station, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 23.

Meanwhile, KAI President Director (Dirut) Bobby Rasyidin revealed that there are still many free motorcycle homecoming quotas that can be used by the public during the Nataru period.

Especially the free homecoming program through the train mode, continued Bobby, is available for the cross-northern route (Jakarta-Semarang) and the middle route (Jakarta-Purwosari).

"For this free motor transport program, its status is now still 41 percent. So the available seat is still 59 percent," he explained.
