JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman stated that the government supports investments in chicken feed and milk farms in Aceh as a strategic step to accelerate the recovery of the regional economy after the flood disaster in the area.

The investment includes the development of upstream to downstream livestock, including the construction of a milk plant and an integrated production system, to strengthen the availability of animal protein while creating new jobs.

"Yes, there was a discussion of investments in chicken feed and milk in Aceh, and we support investment in livestock, from upstream but he wants investors. Then the milk factory, the two of us support," said Minister of Agriculture Amran after receiving a visit from Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 23.

All investment locations are planned to be in Aceh, with government support in the form of policy recommendations, licensing facilitation, and strengthening the business ecosystem so that private investors can operate optimally.

The government ensures that the development of livestock is carried out in an integrated manner from feed, nurseries, to processing, so that Aceh is able to meet its own needs without excessive dependence on supplies from outside the region.

"The area is in Aceh, both in Aceh. That is for post-disaster economic recovery in Aceh," he said.

Apart from Aceh, similar investment concepts are also being designed to be expanded to eastern Indonesia, such as Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Maluku, to encourage the equitable development of national food and protein.

Investment in Aceh is sourced from the private sector and is not part of the Danantara project, with a focus on building a production system that is able to support regional needs while strengthening the economic resilience of the community.

"Not from Danantara, (but) from the private sector," said Amran.

The government sees livestock investment as an important instrument for post-disaster recovery, as it is able to move the real sector, increase the income of farmers and livestock farmers, and maintain the stability of food supply.

Through policy support and center-area synergy, the Minister of Agriculture is optimistic that Aceh can grow into a self-sufficient food and protein region, in line with the vision of inclusive and sustainable national agricultural development.

"We plan for all food and protein self-sufficient areas. That's our dream," said Amran.

Even so, he did not detail the value of the investment or the identity of the investor who would develop the factory in Aceh, but confirmed that all plans would continue and be implemented by the private sector.

Meanwhile, the government targets the development of livestock investment in 13 points gradually, starting January next year, as the foundation for regional food independence based on local potential. The development is carried out with the support of financing from Danantara amounting to Rp. 20 trillion.

The planned location for the first phase of the layer chicken and meat chicken cluster development includes Aceh, Riau, South Sumatra, Lampung, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, Gorontalo, South Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), South Papua, and East Java.

"Next year in January (2026), we will start the road," said Amran.

However, Amran explained that with the plan for the entry of private investors who will develop a livestock factory in Aceh, the quota for the development of livestock through the Danantara scheme will be transferred to other areas.

"Yes. So we (will) move to another place," said Amran.
