JAKARTA - The government ensures the availability of national rice in a safe condition in the midst of the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holidays which are adjacent to Ramadan and Idulfitri 2026.

The Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) who is also the Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Andi Amran Sulaiman, emphasized that the government's rice stock was at the highest level in history and was sufficient to meet the needs of the community for several months to come.

Amran said that the final stock of the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) managed by Perum Bulog reached around 3.5 million tons without imports. This achievement surpassed the previous highest stock, which has only ranged up to a maximum of 2 million tons and most of it comes from imports.

"Now without imports, our stock is 3.5 million tons. That's the highest in history. Our rice is surplus. So there is no problem until Ramadan. There is no problem. Everything is safe," he said in an official statement, Monday, December 22.

Based on Bulog data, as of December 22, 2025, the total stock of rice managed reached around 3.5 million tons. Throughout 2025, the procurement of rice equivalent sourced from within the country has reached 3.425 million tons, consisting of CBP supplies of 3.185 million tons and commercial stocks of around 238,700 tons.

Meanwhile, the realization of the distribution of CBP based on assignments from Bapanas has reached 1.548 million tons. The distribution is carried out through various programs, ranging from rice food assistance, Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP), to handling disasters and emergency conditions.

Amran also ensured that the availability of rice nationwide was in very good condition. Until the end of 2025, the estimated national rice stock is estimated to still reach 12.5 million tons, including stocks at Bulog.

With the national rice consumption requirement of around 2.5 million tons per month, Amran continued, the stock is considered able to meet the needs of almost five months ahead.

With this abundant stock condition, Amran again reminded business actors not to play the price of rice at the consumer level, especially ahead of Christmas, Ramadan, and Eid.

"I ask again. Don't. We cook to take advantage of the situation, we want Christmas, we take care of it until the new year. Then we take care of Ramadan. There is no reason. Now the stock is enough, more than enough," he said.

Amran also said that with the CBP stock reaching 3.5 million tons, there was no reason for any party to raise the price of rice unnaturally.

"If in the past there might have been a reason, in the warehouse there were only 800 or 500,000 tons. Now it's 3.5 million tons. So there is no reason," concluded Amran.
