National Roads In Aceh Start To Recover After Flooding, But Central Crosses Are Carried Out Gradually

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to strive to restore national road access in a number of areas affected by the Sumatra flash floods at the end of November 2025, especially in Aceh Province.

Until now, a number of strategic sections have been passed again.

Sections such as Central Aceh/Nagan Raya Boundaries Lhok Seumot Jeram and Geumpang'Pameue' Pinting Gerbang SP.

Uning has shown progress on recovery, although further handling is still needed, especially at the point of broken bridges and major landslides.

"Since the first day of the incident, the Public Works Team has moved in the field to ensure that public access can be re-opened as soon as possible," said PU Minister Dody Hanggodo in a written statement, Tuesday, December 9.

In the corridors of the eastern and northern regions of Aceh, the progress of recovery shows positive development.

The handling on the Meureudu Section of Pidie Jaya/Bireuen Boundary continues with the hoarding of oprit targeted functionally on December 12, 2025.

On the Bireuen City Section of Bireuen/North Aceh, the installation of the bailey bridge continues to be accelerated with a target of completion on December 14, 2025.

In the central region of Aceh, recovery is running more complex due to the number of broken bridges.

Even so, repairs to the Bireuen City Section, Bener Meriah, showed progress, including the installation of a bailey at the Teupin Mane Bridge which is targeted for completion on December 15, 2025.

The section to Central Aceh, which was affected by six broken bridges, will also be gradually restored with the overall target being completed by the end of December 2025.

The gradual recovery is also taking place in the southern region of Aceh.

On the Blangkejeren Section of Gayo Lues/Southeast, the handling of hoarding at the collapsed point is targeted for completion on December 28, 2025.

Meanwhile, the Gayo Lues/Aceh Tenggara Boundary Section in Kutacane City has increased significantly with the installation of a bailey bridge and handling landslides at three points.

The Banda Aceh 'Meureudu' section has also been connected, while the Lhokseumawe' Langsa and Langsa' Kuala Simpang corridors can be passed after cleaning the sediment. The Kuala Simpang City Section of North Sumatra's Cross Road has also been functional for all types of vehicles.

However, Dody admitted, the recovery of connectivity for the mid-Aceh crossing was carried out in stages.

This is because access is very limited due to 13 broken bridges.

"Kementerian PU menegaskan proses pemulihan akan terus dipercepat untuk memastikan seluruh ruas jalan nasional terdampak dapat fungsional sesuai target," imbuhnya.

He said the recovery was carried out through the installation of a bailey bridge and the rehabilitation of the road was damaged by river culling.

"The Ministry of Public Works emphasized that the recovery process will continue to be accelerated to ensure that all affected national roads can be functionally on target," he added.
