10,000 Tons Of Rice Will Be Distributed To Aceh Disaster Victims

JAKARTA - The government has approved an additional 10,000 tons of rice submitted by the Governor of Aceh Muzakir Manaf (Mualem) for the needs of the Acehnese affected by floods and landslides.

The application comes amid efforts by the Aceh Provincial Government to deal with the impact of disasters that have caused casualties and damaged agricultural infrastructure.

Minister of Agriculture and Head of the National Food Agency (Kabapanas) Andi Amran Sulaiman said this approval was given as part of the central government's quick response to the emergency situation in the Sumatra region.

Furthermore, Amran said the rice was a special allocation to support post-disaster recovery. In fact, Amran said that his party had prepared three times higher than the Aceh Governor's request.

"Alhamdulillah, on behalf of the Central Government, we approved a request for 10,000 tons of rice from the Governor of Mualem for Aceh," Amran said in an official statement, Tuesday, December 9.

Amran said the national rice stock controlled by Perum Bulog was recorded at 3.68 million tons as of December 8, 2025. He said, this amount is the highest record in the last decade and far above the average year-end stock, which ranges from 1.2 to 1.5 million tons.

"With a stock of 3.68 million tons, we have triple reserves of national monthly needs. So this 10,000 tons application is very small compared to our stock. We will make sure Aceh is sufficient, and all of Indonesia remains safe until the March 'April 2026 harvest," he said.

Amran said that the distribution of 10,000 tons of rice will soon be carried out by Perum Bulog Divre Aceh this week through a food aid mechanism and price supply stabilization (SPHP) so that it is right on target and rice prices in Aceh remain affordable.

This assistance complements the initial allocation of 10,614 tons of rice for Aceh as part of the national emergency program for three provinces of Sumatra (Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra) worth a total of 34,000 tons of rice.

Previously, at a Limited Meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Sultan Iskandar Muda Air Force Command Post on December 7, 2025, the Governor of Aceh had explained the urgent need to stabilize the price of basic necessities, including rice, clean water, and LPG.

Then, the President's visit to Aceh twice in a row (7 to 8 December 2025) became a momentum for coordination of the centers that accelerated the allocation of aid.
