Airlangga Ensures There Is Relaxation To The Elimination Of Credit For MSMEs Affected By Disasters In Sumatra

JAKARTA - The government has prepared a number of relaxations for business actors and communities affected by floods and landslides in three provinces, namely Aceh, North Sumatra (Suram) and West Sumatra (West Sumatra).

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that regulations for the relaxation of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are already available and can be implemented immediately.

"Yes, later we will provide relaxation for MSMEs. The regulations already exist and that can apply automatically," said Airlangga when met in South Jakarta, Thursday, December 4.

When asked about the deletion of credit for MSMEs in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, Airlangga confirmed that the option had been prepared.

"Yes, of course, restructuring and eliminating bad credit," he said.

Previously, Chairman of Commission XI of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI), Mukhamad Misbakhun, said that natural disasters not only left physical infrastructure damage, but also paralyzed the joints of the people's economy.

Therefore, he encouraged a strong synergy between the central government, regional governments, and related authorities such as Bank Indonesia (BI) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK) in formulating a stimulus policy that was right on target for affected areas.

"Post-disaster recovery cannot only be interpreted as limited to building physical reconstruction alone, but must touch directly on efforts to revive the heart of the people's economy," he said in an official statement, Thursday, December 4.

He said, the main priority now is to restore the pulse of economic activity at the grassroots level.

For example, restoring the function of traditional markets, ensuring the smooth distribution of logistics channels, and providing a number of easing for MSME players whose businesses were stopped due to disasters.

In this regard, Misbakhun asked OJK and banks to immediately review the possibility of implementing credit relaxation or debt restructuring for debtors who are directly affected by disasters in Sumatra.

Sebagai informasi, pulau Sumatera secara keseluruhan menyumbang 22,4 persen bagi PDB nasional, dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi sebesar 4,9 persen pada kuartal III-2025.

Lebih lanjut, Misbakhun memastikan, Komisi XI DPR RI, yang membidangi keuangan, perencanaan pembangunan nasional, dan perbankan, akan menjalankan fungsi pengawasan secara ketat terhadap realisasi anggaran dan program pemulihan tersebut.

“Kementerian dan lembaga terkait agar memangkas hambatan birokrasi yang berpotensi memperlambat penyaluran bantuan, mengingat kondisi di lapangan membutuhkan respons yang bersifat segera,” ujarnya.

Furthermore, Misbakhun ensured that Commission XI of the DPR RI, which is in charge of finance, national development planning, and banking, would carry out its supervisory function strictly against the realization of the budget and recovery program.

"Relevant ministries and institutions should cut bureaucratic barriers that have the potential to slow down the distribution of aid, considering that conditions in the field require immediate responses," he said.
