DJKN Is Calculating BMN Losses Due To Aceh Floods To West Sumatra

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, revealed that the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN), especially the Directorate of State Property (BMN), is carefully calculating the large losses suffered by BMN due to flooding in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Suahasil emphasized that the calculation must consider objects affected, the level of damage, and the coverage value of each asset.

"Now I can convey my friends at the Directorate General of State Assets, especially at the Directorate of BMN, who are calculating how much state property is affected by the disaster in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra and we will definitely claim our insurance industry friends. Because that's the point of insurance," he said, Tuesday, December 2.

He added that in the process of recovering damaged assets, the government does not only rely on the APBN budget because several assets that have been insured will be claimed to insurance companies to help finance rebuilding.

Suahasil added, insurance acts as a protection against risks and if these risks occur and are included in insurance coverage, then claims will be filed as a form of state asset protection.

"This is a form of cooperation that I want, indeed insurance, yes, covering risks. If the risk occurs and it is considered that it is in coverage risk, it becomes protection against these risks," he explained.

Suahasil also emphasized that all BMN should be insured as part of risk mitigation and fiscal management, so that potential losses can be transferred to the person in charge so that state assets remain protected.

"I think some ministries and institutions have begun to understand and have begun to feel that with state-owned insurance, some of their risks are covered. Disasters in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra, tomorrow we will also use it as a case, that insured, means we can rebuild it in the future," he explained.

He added that next year he will ask DJKN to continue to monitor how much assets are insured in BMN ministries and user institutions.

As is known until 2025, the total BMN that was insured through the K/L budget was recorded at IDR 61 trillion and with the launch of the disaster fund pooling scheme, this year's insurance coverage increased by IDR 30 trillion from three pilot ministries, namely the Ministry of State Secretariat, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Religion, bringing the total value of BMN that was insured in 2025 to IDR 91 trillion.
