JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadives opened his voice regarding the budget for flood and landslide management in the Sumatra region.

Purbaya explained that the funding for disaster management is still relying on the regional government (Pemda) budget.

Based on government data, there are 10 regencies/cities in Sumatra that are affected by flooding, ranging from Aceh, North Sumatra, to West Sumatra.

He admitted that he did not know in detail the budget needs of each regional government and currently, most regions still take advantage of the internal budget.

"I think there is social assistance using the existing budget in them, there is (the regional government)," he told the media crew after the 2025 Bank Indonesia Annual Meeting (PTBI), Friday, November 28.

Purbaya also said that until now there has been no local government that has officially submitted an additional budget request for handling the disaster.

"I haven't asked me until now. So it seems that I used the existing budget first," he said.

Previously, the Governor of Bank Indonesia (BI) Perry Warjiyo expressed his deep sorrow for the floods and landslides that hit various regions in Sumatra.

Meanwhile, this was conveyed at the 2025 Bank Indonesia (PTBI) Annual Meeting which was also attended by President Prabowo Subianto.

"Mr. President and the audience that we respect, our brothers and sisters, in Sibolga, Lhokseumawe, and a number of other areas, are currently receiving the natural disaster season," Perry said, at the 2025 Bank Indonesia Annual Meeting (PTBI), Friday, November 28.

Perry invites the entire community to pray for the victims and provide support for those affected and also encourage joint concern to help survivors.

"Through this podium, through this honorable pulpit, we from Bank Indonesia invite all of us to pray and set aside some of our sustenance to help you," he said.
