Danantara Competes Against 90 Land Rebut Companies In Kampung Haji

JAKARTA - The Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (DANTara) confirmed that it has officially entered the bidding process to fight for land prepared by the Government of Saudi Arabia for the development of an area that has so far been known to the public as the 'Hajj Village'.

Managing Director Treasury Danantara Ali Setiawan explained that he had proposed a bidding for one land opportunity.

In addition, Danantara also targets one other asset in the form of land and buildings.

However, he was reluctant to reveal the value of his investment.

"Just pray that we can, later we are waiting for the results because there are many biddings, 90s and all of them are big," Ali said in a media briefing in Jakarta, Friday, November 28.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Stakeholders Management Danantara Rohan Hafas revealed, in the tender process the Saudi government has also set an offering price.

"I remind you because this bidding is not a number. The land price has been set by Saudi Arabia and cannot be negotiated. He emphasized that the winner will be determined from the best concept for the lot or land," said Rohan.

Rohan also explained that the location of Kampung Mecca is only about 2 to 2.5 kilometers (km) and a tunnel and traveler are available. According to Rohan, with this facility, pilgrims can walk for only about 20 minutes.

"So it's very strategic, it really helps Hajj or Umrah pilgrims when doing worship there," he said.

Previously, Danantara Indonesia Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Pandu Sjahrir revealed that his party was in the process of offering and preparing land purchase documents that already had a permit.

We are trying to buy 80 hectares of land plus. And now we will also buy some of the surrounding land that has been completed with the permits. This is also to expand in a way we want to introduce Indonesia to the world," he said in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 19.

Furthermore, Pandu said the Hajj village was prioritized for commercial purposes. Later in the area, culinary outlets, hospitals, hospitality, and others will be opened.

"Here we will start from food and beverages, modest fashion, tourism, pharmaceuticals, media, and possibly sharia businesses, because 80 hectares are the same as 2.5 times SCBD," said Pandu.

Menurut Pandu, kampung haji ini memang dibangun untuk mengakomodir berbagai kebutuhan jemaah haji dan umrah dari Indonesia. Namun, diharapkan juga bisa menarik pengunjung dari berbagai negara.

“Jadi tempat orang, dan bukannya orang Indonesia, orang yang suka dengan Indonesia atau penasaran dengan Indonesia. Jadi kita melihat pembangunan Kampung Haji itu untuk meng-introduce Indonesia ke sekala dunia,” ujar Pandu.

Kata Pandu, dengan proyek itu diharapkan bisnis-bisnis Indonesia bisa lebih mendunia.

Karena itu, Pandu meminta dukungan semua pihak agar proyek itu lancar.

“Jadi kami diberi akses kesempatan pertama kalinya dibuka di Makkah untuk bisa membeli tanah secara langsung. Itu loh kami sebagai negara Islam terbesar tentu akan mau bidding. Jadi ini yang kami lakukan, mohon doa bisa dapat,” tuturnya.

According to Pandu, this Hajj village was indeed built to accommodate the various needs of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia. However, it is also hoped that it can attract visitors from various countries.

"So people's places, and not Indonesians, people who like Indonesia or are curious about Indonesia. So we see the construction of the Hajj Village to induce Indonesia around the world," said Pandu.

Pandu said, with the project, it is hoped that Indonesian businesses can be more global.

Therefore, Pandu asked for the support of all parties so that the project was smooth.

"So we were given access to the first opportunity to open in Makkah to be able to buy land directly. That's what we are as the largest Islamic country, of course we will want a bidding. So this is what we are doing, please pray for it," he said.
