The Ministry of Cooperatives (Kemenkop) encourages the management of the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDKMP) to update the data of cooperative members through the Village/Redih Village Cooperative Information System (Simkopdes).
Deputy for Institutional and Digitization of Cooperatives, Hendra Saragih explained that so far there are 82,780 KDKMPs that are legal entities, while 76,733 have had Simkopdes accounts. Meanwhile, only 51,489 KDKMP or 62.19 percent have updated their profiles.
"The new update is 62.19 percent. We encourage the KDKMP management to update it," he said in a media briefing at the Kemenkop Office, Friday, November 21.
Hendra said, based on Simkopdes, there were only 1.29 million people registered as members of the KDKMP. If it is generalized, each cooperative only has 14 people as members. This number is relatively small when compared to the number of cooperatives that have been established throughout Indonesia.
"This is homework for us. Why? Because it is the president's wish that all people in the village must become members of the Cooperative," he explained.

To encourage member registration, the Ministry of Cooperatives will then encourage Business Assistant (BA) and Project Management Officer (PMO) to update the number of KDKMP members so that the number is evenly distributed. Based on his findings in the field, Hendra said there were cooperatives that had 9 members, while other cooperatives had 900 members.
Hendra explained that the registration of this member is quite crucial because cooperatives are community empowerment programs. The more members, the stronger the cooperative will be built.
"We encourage them to become members of community co-operation in these villages. Their strength is indeed in members," he said.
