JAKARTA - Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) and PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) are expanding strategic partnerships in the development of the sharia economic ecosystem in the Muhammadiyah Business Amal (AUM) environment.
The cooperation was confirmed through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at Muhammadiyah University in Bandung, Monday, November 17, by PP Muhammadiyah Chairman Haedar Nashir with BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo, and witnessed by BSI President Commissioner Muhadjir Effendi and Muhammadiyah leaders.
In the cooperation whose certainty coincides with the series of Muhammadiyah's 113th Anniversary centered at Muhammadiyah University in Bandung, BSI provides integrated sharia banking services, starting from cash management, sharia funding products for mudharabah, giro, deposits to financing and opening PPOB services.
Non-commercial cooperation was also agreed on the empowerment of MSMEs and strengthening the economic independence of the people.
In this collaboration, BSI will be integrated into Muhammadiyah Aisyiyah SuperApp (MASA), a digital platform that is being developed by Muhammadiyah. The application will cover the entire digital system of the organization, including SatuMu, a platform that contains data on 3 million members through Muhammadiyah Membership Cards and the active Muhammadiyah Organization.
Four other features are being prepared, ranging from MU, JDIH, AUM Management System, to PKU Health Management System.
BSI will also provide a payment platform for Muhammadiyah contributions through the BYOND application and the AUM management platform, and submit scholarships to 31 students at Muhammadiyah University in Bandung.
For these various points of cooperation, Haedar Nashir expressed his appreciation for BSI's commitment to supporting the people's economy which is expected to bring broad benefits.
"Muhammadiyah continues to move to advance the people. BSI as a sharia bank owned by the government is also committed to improving the welfare of the people. Hopefully this MoU brings broad benefits," said Haedar Nashir, quoted by Antara.
Meanwhile, President Director of BSI Anggoro Eko Cahyo emphasized that this collaboration is a matter of pride and a big responsibility, considering that Muhammadiyah is the initiator of the sharia economy that has an effect on the nation's journey.
"This synergy forms a good ecosystem that is realized through sharia financial education, integration of sharia digital transaction platforms, as well as strengthening the zakat, infaq, and alms system through BAIQ Core," he said.

BSI noted that currently nearly 6,000 AUM accounts have been connected to the sharia bank service, which includes the education, health and social services sectors. Then, the AUM employee ecosystem served by BSI, is said to have exceeded 50,000 customers.
Anggoro also emphasized that BSI is ready to expand service reach to all Muhammadiyah networks through 1,039 branches in Indonesia.
By integrating into SuperApp MASA and developing payment systems to AUM management, this collaboration is projected to be an important step in accelerating the digitization of the largest Islamic organization in the country.
