The Directorate General of Small, Medium and Multifarious Industries (IKMA) of the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) signed a memorandum of understanding or MoU with PT Mediawave Interactive (MWX) regarding the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to boost industrial competitiveness.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita stated that AI has become an important pillar in increasing the competitiveness of the national industry.

"In the midst of the flow of technological changes, artificial intelligence or AI is one of the main pillars that encourages efficiency, innovation and competitiveness, especially the industrial sector," Agus said in an official statement quoted on Saturday, November 15.

Agus explained, AI not only helps automation of the process, but also provides fast and accurate data analysis capabilities.

Moreover, Indonesia has 4.43 million IKM business units that absorb more than 12.8 million workers, so that the acceleration of digital transformation becomes an urgent need.

"In the industrial context, the application of AI can increase productivity, optimize supply chains and create products and services more adaptive to market needs," he said.

The Director General of IKMA at the Ministry of Industry, Reni Yanita, said that cooperation with Mediawave is expected to help IKM actors make easier and cheaper use of AI technology.

The signing of the cooperation is part of a series of activities held by the Directorate General of IKMA, in the form of a Workshop for the Utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Small and Medium Industries (IKM) which will take place on November 13-14, 2025 in Bogor, West Java.

The workshop, which was attended by 65 IKM players, raised the topic of Awareness of IKM Transformation and the Adoption of INDI 4.0 as well as the socialization of cybersecurity guidelines in the industrial sector in collaboration with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).

In addition, MediaWave (MWX) also provides direct training to IKM regarding the utilization of AI in the process of production, digital marketing (marketing) to sales. Thus, participants can apply this technology in daily operational activities.

"In addition to accelerating smart technology, we must also enforce strong and sustainable cyber security guidelines," he explained.

According to Reni, cybersecurity is no longer an option, but rather a strategic necessity to maintain the reliability of the system and public trust.

"The implementation of cybersecurity framework, strengthening digital literacy and monitoring of data governance needs to go hand in hand with technological innovation," he explained.

Cooperation with Mediawave is expected to provide access to AI platforms that IKM players can use for automatic marketing content creation, business planning, automatic financial reports, cybersecurity management to product development research.

Meanwhile, Mediawave Founder and CEO Yose Rizal said AI technology was able to accelerate the IKM business process significantly. AI can complete work 25 times faster at a lower cost.

"There is still a technological gap, because 90 percent of global MSMEs do not yet have access to AI tools. We hope that this collaboration with the Ministry of Industry will accelerate adoption in tens of thousands of IKM," he concluded.
