Coordinating Minister AHY Supports The Development Of Komodo Airport In Labuan Bajo

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono supports the development of Komodo International Airport in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, to increase tourist visits.

"The more people who come, the better for the economy in Labuan Bajo or Manggarai and of course NTT in general. People can also be involved in various types of businesses, including in the creative economy and MSMEs," said Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) quoting Antara.

During the working visit, AHY directly monitored the Komodo Airport facilities and infrastructure located at the western end of Flores Island.

The encouraging thing, he continued, was that the number of passengers at Komodo International Airport continued to increase every year after the COVID-19 pandemic.

"After the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant increase, from the airport capacity of 1.1 million passengers per year, I think it can be achieved, it can be exceeded until October. November and December of course we hope it will increase," he said.

AHY said the terminal capacity of Komodo International Airport needs to be increased along with the increase in the number of passengers, both domestically and internationally.

"This means that capacity is getting more and more relieved because it was very optimal. Hopefully with strengthening, expanding capacity, we hope that more and more tourists will come, both domestically and internationally, because Labuan Bajo is a world-class tourism destination," he said.

He also said that the more tourist visits to Labuan Bajo will have a positive impact on economic growth in NTT.

"People can also be involved in various types of businesses, including in the creative economy and MSMEs," he said.

Data at Komodo International Airport noted that from January to September 2025, the number of domestic passengers arriving and departing from Komodo International Airport was 801,810 people.

From this figure, the number of passengers arriving or arriving was recorded at 391,244 people and 410,566 passengers departing.

Meanwhile, throughout 2024, the number of domestic passengers arriving and departing from Komodo International Airport reached 970,472 people.

Meanwhile, in the period January to September 2025, the number of international passengers arriving and departing from Komodo International Airport was 46,382 people.
