JAKARTA - Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita appreciated the expansion steps taken by PT Citra Terus Makmur as a strategic step in strengthening the structure and supply chain of the national textile industry.

According to the Minister of Industry, this expansion is clear evidence that textile industry players in the country continue to show optimism and confidence in the prospects for the growth of Indonesia's manufacturing industry.

"I express my appreciation and appreciation to PT Citra Terus Makmur for this strategic expansion step. The expansion efforts made by the company not only increase production capacity, but also strengthen the structure and supply chain of the national textile industry," said Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in her remarks at the inauguration of the expansion of the PT Citra Continue Makmur factory, quoted Tuesday, November 12.

This expansion step involves investing with this capacity increase, PT Citra Terus Makmur not only expands the domestic market, but also strengthens Indonesia's position as an important player in the global textile supply chain.

Agus assessed that this expansion is a real example of collaboration between the government and the business world in encouraging the growth of the textile and textile product (TPT) sector, which has been one of the main contributors to the economy and national employment.

"This investment is a strong proof of investor confidence in the national TPT industry. We hope that PT Citra Terus Makmur's steps can inspire other industry players to continue to innovate and expand their production capacity," he added.

The Minister of Industry emphasized that despite the TPT sector facing a number of global challenges, the industry's performance still shows resilience. In the third quarter of 2025, the growth of the textile and clothing industry was recorded at 0.93 percent, while its export performance remained stable at 8.07 billion US dollars, with a trade surplus of 2.5 billion US dollars.

In addition, the TPT sub-sector continues to attract investor interest. After declining in 2023, the investment value increased sharply to IDR 21.44 trillion in 2024, and until September 2025, IDR 13.85 trillion had been realized. This industry also remains the main labor absorber, with 3.76 million people working in the TPT sector, or 19.18 percent of the total national manufacturing workforce.

"This fact shows that despite facing external pressure, the TPT industry still has the durability and great potential to continue to grow. The government continues to provide support so that this industry can transform more efficiently, modernly, and globally competitively," said Agus.

Agus explained that the government through the Ministry of Industry has prepared various policies and programs to strengthen the competitiveness of the TPT industry. These efforts include providing fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, improving labor skills through vocational education and link and match programs, as well as accelerating machine restructuring and production equipment.

In addition, the Minister of Industry also emphasized his commitment to support the availability of raw materials.

"Based on the industry law, the government is required to prepare raw materials needed," he said.
