JAKARTA - President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) Simon Aloysius Mantiri revealed that Pertamina plans to build a bioethenol factory in West Java that will use palm sugar as the main raw material.
However, Simon is reluctant to divulge further when this factory will be built
"West Java is probably with us, basically we will continue to pursue all our potentials. Later when there is a definite date, we will inform the media crew when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building, Monday, November 10.
Simon admitted that Pertamina had also conducted a series of in-depth studies related to the use of palm sugar as raw material for bioethenol production.
Later, he said, the proceeds from this factory will be used as a mixture for Pertamax Green 95 fuel.
Just so you know, currently Pertamax Green is still in the pilot project stage, but the application of sugar as a camopran material is still very possible.
"Yesterday, the pilot was still in the pilot stage, yes, we will try later. Of course, from the projects that have been worked on, the pilot is indeed possible. So you can, you can come from there," explained Simon.
Simon said that in the future Pertamina emphasized the diversification of energy sources, including the use of bioethenol as a mixture.
He also admitted that if this transformation process could not be separated from various challenges such as production costs, it would also be different, which would also affect the selling price.
"Of course, after all, we are also affordable is king. So affordability is the most important thing. So we are all looking for solutions to stay affordable by the community," he said.

Simon said, the potential for palm sugar in Indonesia is indeed large in areas such as West Java, North Sulawesi, and Kalimantan.
For starters, Pertamina will focus on utilizing the existing potential, especially in the West Java region.
"So of course, if we plan to expand the scale, we also need planting elsewhere. But now we are taking advantage of what is already there," said Simon.
