Viral Fuel Bobibos, ESDM Opens Voice

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has opened its voice regarding a new fuel oil (BBM) product called Bobibos which has gone viral on social media.

The Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Laode Sulaeman, who was reluctant to mention the name of certain fuels, said he expressed his appreciation for the innovations made. Nevertheless, he stressed that fuel suitable for vehicle consumption takes longer because it undergoes a long testing process.

"I don't dare to say names and others, but it doesn't reduce my appreciation for the innovation of the nation's children. But as I explained, to test a fuel and then become fuel, it's at least 8 months, then we will decide whether this is feasible or not," Laode said as quoted on Saturday, November 8.

Regarding claims that he has pocketed a certificate, Laode emphasized that Bobibos had just submitted a laboratory test proposal. The results are still not public.

"So, they proposed a test at our laboratory. But the test results are still a secret agreement, meaning it's still closed. I can't convey that yet," said Laode.

He also straightened out that if the company submitted a test, it would mean that the results issued were in the form of test results and not certificates as stated by Bobibos.

"And if you ask for a test, it means that the results of the test results are not certification. I need to straighten this out, so there is no confusion. Yesterday I also got it, oh it has been certified. I will clarify here that this has not been certified," explained Laode.

Furthermore, Laode ensured that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources was willing to facilitate those who innovated in making new fuel products with existing Business Entities (BU) to cooperate.

In fact, he said, many parties have succeeded in making breakthroughs by creating new fuel but have to go through a series of processes to later reach the standards set by the government.

"So actually there are many who make it like that. There have also been plastic. It's like a lot. But we don't want to respond one by one. I want to convey legal procedures on how a fuel is legalized by the government to become official fuel," said Laode.
