JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade (Mendag) Budi Santoso targets the reciprocal tariff negotiations implemented by the United States (US) against Indonesian products to be completed in November 2025.

"Yes, this month, November," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, November 4.

He added that negotiations with the United States in determining the reply rate were carried out by the government carefully by paying attention to the position of Indonesian bargaining positions.

According to him, the government wants Indonesian products that are not produced by the US to get a 0 percent reciprocal rate.

"We want our products that are not produced by America, but exported there which get 0 percent," he said.

Next week, the Trade Minister continued, his party will renegotiate with the United States.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said negotiations for the reciprocal tariff of the United States (US) entered the finalization stage, after obtaining approval from President Prabowo Subianto and US President Donald Trump.

"Now, the finalization of the agreement with the United States, whose principle agreement has been approved by President Prabowo and President Trump," Airlangga said in October.

Currently, Airlangga continued, legal documents are being prepared intensively regarding the agreement between Indonesia and the United States.

He hopes that this stage can take place quickly.

Regarding commodities that will be exempt from tariffs, Airlangga explained that in principle tariff exemption will be applied to commodities that can be grown in Indonesia, but cannot be planted in the United States.

"So is the opposite. It means, like palm oil, cocoa, chocolate, they give zero tariffs," said Airlangga.

President Trump set a resiprocal import rate for Indonesia at 19 percent, down from the figure set for the first time at 32 percent.

The finalization of the 19 percent tariff occurred after negotiations via telephone between the US President and President Prabowo.
