JAKARTA The Jabodebek LRT journey on Saturday, October 25, 2025, was stopped at around 08.41 to 10.50 WIB, forcing some passengers to be evacuated on foot on the side of the rail at an altitude.

The Jabodebek LRT journey stopped suddenly due to a protection system that cut off electricity. This situation immediately attracted public attention and raised concerns about user safety.

Responding to this, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI as the manager apologized for the inconvenience that occurred, while appreciating the calm of passengers during the evacuation process.

"KAI understands that the experience of walking on the edge of the Jabodebek LRT line is not an easy thing for users. Therefore, we express our appreciation and gratitude to all users who have remained calm and followed the directions of the officers during the evacuation process," said Jabodebek LRT Public Relations Manager, Mahendro Trang Bawono, in his official statement, Sunday, October 26.

Mahendro explained, before the evacuation process was carried out, it was confirmed that the electricity from the third rail had been completely extinguished to ensure the safety of users and officers.

"In certain situations when the series is unable to continue the journey, users are directed to the nearest station via a walkway with assistance from officers," he said.

KAI emphasized that all evacuation measures were carried out according to the emergency response procedure (SOP) and each step was carried out carefully and centrally coordinated with the Operations Control Center (OCC) to ensure user safety remains a top priority.

Mahendro said the Jabodebek LRT also has alternative procedures for using other trains (shuttles) which are placed close to the series that are experiencing problems.

This scheme, continued Mahendro, can be implemented if the train that is experiencing problems cannot continue its journey, so that evacuation can be carried out by moving from the train that is experiencing disruption to the shuttle train.

"However, in yesterday's incident, the shuttle train could not be operated because the electricity in all lines was out, so the entire Jabodebek LRT train network could not be operated," he explained.

As part of mitigation measures so that similar incidents do not happen again, KAI conducts a thorough evaluation of operational systems and procedures, including aspects of electricity, protection systems, and coordination of communication between teams.

"This evaluation is the basis for improving the operational reliability system going forward," he said.

Mahendro said that his party also routinely carries out training and simulations for handling emergencies in a number of locations, such as Kuningan, Ciracas, and West Bekasi Stations. This activity ensures that all officers have a good response speed and coordination ability in dealing with emergency situations.

"We are committed to continuing to improve the readiness of officers, systems, and infrastructure so that services are more reliable. Every incident is an evaluation material for us to strengthen public trust in the Jabodebek LRT," said Mahendro.

KAI invites the public to continue to use public transportation as an efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly mobility option.

With the support and trust of the community, KAI through the Jabodebek LRT is committed to providing better services and being part of a sustainable mobility solution.

"KAI is grateful for the trust of the people who continue to use the Jabodebek LRT service as a mainstay mode of transportation, and ensure that every operation is always carried out by prioritizing the safety and security aspects of users," he said.
