PURWOKERTO - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is again holding the 2025 Financial Inclusion Month (BIK) as part of efforts to increase public financial literacy and inclusion throughout Indonesia.

Chief Executive of the Behavior Supervisory of Financial, Education and Protection Business Actors of OJK Consumers, Friderica Widyasari Dewi, said that financial inclusion is one of the keys in reducing poverty and income inequality.

According to him, this is realized through increasing accessibility and affordability to formal financial products and services that are in accordance with the needs of the community.

"Essentially, this financial inclusion aims to reduce poverty and income inequality by trying to ensure accessibility, affordability to formal financial products and services for each individual," he said at the Peak of the 2025 Financial Inclusion Month, Saturday, October 18, 2025.

According to Friderica, this financial inclusion activity is an implementation of the OJK Law and Law Number 4 of 2023 concerning the Development and Strengthening of the Financial Sector (P2SK).

He emphasized that not only OJK, but all Financial Services Institutions (LJK) also have an obligation to conduct education and financial literacy in various regions.

"So, not all financial products are suitable for everyone, so they must be returned to the individual himself."

"That is why we conduct literacy education and how financial inclusion can improve people's welfare," he said.

He also mentioned that survey hasios from OECD show a positive relationship between literacy levels and financial inclusion and people's welfare.

Therefore, Friderica said that the financial inclusion program, including those run through the Regional Financial Access Acceleration Team (TPAKD), is expected to be able to boost the growth of the MSME sector and improve people's welfare in real terms.
