E10 Valid 2028, Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources Prepares Rules

JAKARTA - Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) ESDM Eniya Listiani Dewi revealed that the mandatory gasoline program with an ethanol mixture of 10 percent or E10 will take effect in 2028.

This is in accordance with what was conveyed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia previously who said the E10 program would be valid for the next 2 to 3 years.

"Two or three years, around 2028," said Eniya, quoted on Wednesday, October 15.

Eniya said that the E10 program would only be applied to the non-public service obligation (PSO) sector. He explained that most non-PSO fuel users are vehicles produced above 2000 and tend to be more adaptive to ethanol mixtures of up to 20 percent.

"The bioethenol is applied to non-PSO. Not PSO. Well, non-PSO users are on average higher and the engine output is above 2000," continued Eniya.

The need for ethanol for the mandatory E10 program in the non-PSO sector is estimated at 1.2 million kiloliters (kl).

Meanwhile, in the near future, the government will intensify the expansion of the use of E5 which was previously still limited to market testing. Just so you know, the current E5 has been marketed by Pertamina through Pertamax Green 95 products and has only been sold at several gas stations.

To support this expansion, Eniya ensured that his party was still preparing a legal umbrella for mandatory B5.

"The Ministerial Decree is being discussed again. The Ministerial Decree will mandate E5 first or what? This is being discussed again," said Eniya.
