Suddenly Asked About Plans To Become A Vice Presidential Candidate, Minister Of Finance Purbaya: Ah Just A Month Of Work

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Sadive suddenly received questions from one of the journalists about the possibility of becoming a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) in the upcoming elections.

The question was asked because the Minister of Finance is currently a new idol among the public.

"Sir, become a new idol, here, sir. Do you want to be a vice presidential candidate, sir?" asked a journalist when met after the 2025 Daily Summit Investors event entitled "New Economic Order" at the Jakarta Convention Center, Thursday, October 9.

Hearing that question, Purbaya was shocked and immediately gave a spontaneous answer.

"Ah, it's been a month of crazy work, you. That, right, can change. If the economy is good, so (many are idolized) go down, go down again," he replied.

"Economics, right, up and down, up and down. So, don't be quick (to take conclusions) and I don't think about (being a vice presidential candidate) either," said Purbaya.

When confirmed further by reporters whether it is possible to think about advancing to the political realm, Purbaya firmly refused.

"No, I don't think at all," he said.

Purbaya reiterated that he had only been working for a while. Thus, it has not yet resolved economic problems as a whole.

"It's also not work (all of them). This, right, is just on the surface. We haven't combed the bottom one by chance. There is no choice at all. I don't care either," he explained.

For information, President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Purbaya Yudhi Sadive to become Minister of Finance on Monday, September 8. Purbaya replaces Sri Mulyani Indrawati, who has served for 14 years.

This means that until now, Purbaya has only served as Minister of Finance for more than a month and a few days.
