Teachers And Students Appreciate Phase I People's School Renovation In Banyuwangi By The Ministry Of Public Works

The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has completed the rehabilitation work of the first phase of the People's School in Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, as a tangible manifestation of the government's commitment to providing proper educational facilities for all the nation's children according to President Prabowo Subianto's vision.

The construction work for the second phase of the People's School in Banyuwangi will also begin soon.

"The rehabilitation and development of this People's School is a tangible form of the government's commitment to building superior human resources. The Ministry of Public Works wants to ensure that this educational facility is built quickly and quality," said PU Minister Dody Hanggodo.

The People's School in Banyuwangi, which has been rehabilitated at the IA stage, is at the Licin Civil Servant Training Center with a capacity of 125 students (1 elementary school, 2 junior high school, and 2 high school).

His rehabilitation work was completed in July 2025 with facilities covering classrooms, IPA laboratories and computers, libraries, UKS, halls, prayer rooms, kitchens and dining rooms, as well as men's and women's dormitories.

Teaching and learning activities at the Licin Civil Servant Training Center officially started on July 14, 2025.

This location was originally a training ground for ASN in Banyuwangi Regency whose implementation time in 1 year was only about 3-4 times, so there were more empty buildings.

The Ministry of Social Affairs has proposed that rehabilitation and renovation be carried out at this location so that it can be used as a People's School in Banyuwangi Regency.

The rehabilitation of the IC phase located at the Banyuwangi Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP) has also been completed in September 2025.

The scope of work includes renovations of classrooms, teacher rooms, laboratories, libraries, student and pamong dormitories, dining rooms, to the construction of new washing and drying rooms.

The Banyuwangi BPVP People's School can accommodate 100 students consisting of 2 elementary schools and 2 high schools.

Sementara untuk pembangunan tahap II, pemerintah telah menyiapkan lahan 6,64 hektar milik Pemerintah Kabupaten Banyuwangi di Desa Blambangan, Kecamatan Muncar.

Pada lahan ini direncanakan akan dibangun Sekolah Rakyat untuk jenjang SD, SMP, dan SMA.

“Alhamdulillah respons guru, siswa, dan terutama para wali murid sangat senang sekali dengan adanya renovasi sekolah rakyat ini karena merupakan salah satu perbaikan nasib para murid-murid yang sebelumnya mungkin berada di lingkungan yang kurang baik di Banyuwangi, mereka bisa mempunyai lingkungan yang lebih tertib, lebih ramah terhadap masa depan mereka,” kata Kepala Satuan Kerja Pelaksanaan Prasarana Strategis (PPS) Jawa Timur I Gusti Agung Ari Wibawa.

Meanwhile, for the construction of phase II, the government has prepared a 6.64 hectare land belonging to the Banyuwangi Regency Government in Blambangan Village, Muncar District.

On this land, it is planned that a People's School will be built for elementary, junior high, and high school levels.

"Alhamdulillah, the response of teachers, students, and especially parents is very happy with the renovation of this people's school because it is one of the improvements to the fate of the students who may have previously been in an unfavorable environment in Banyuwangi, they can have a more orderly, more friendly environment to their future," said Head of the East Java Strategic Infrastructure I Gusti Agung Ari Wibawa.
