JAKARTA - PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU), one of the subsidiaries of MMS Group Indonesia (MMSGI), managed to record brilliant achievements by winning two gold awards (Gold) in the prestigious Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainable Village Development (PDB) Awards 2025.

The event, which was held at the Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, on Tuesday (30/9), was attended by the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions (PDT) Yandri Susanto, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, and Deputy Village Minister PDT Ariza Patria, who expressed appreciation for the contribution of the business world in supporting inclusive and sustainable village development.

This gold award was given to MHU through two of its flagship programs, namely the Equality Education Program Packages A, B, and C as well as the Lung Anai Chocolate House Program. Both are considered to be able to have a significant impact on improving the quality of human resources and empowering the economy of the village community.

Since 2019, MHU together with PKBM Puteri Karang Melenu Loa Kulu have presented formal educational access for communities around operational areas. Through this program, students who previously did not have the opportunity to continue their education can return to equivalence education Packages A, B, and C.

Not only bearing the costs of education, textbooks, and teacher honorariums, MHU also supports learning facilities by providing 10 computers for the implementation of Computer-Based National Exams (UNBK). This program is even strengthened by vocational skills training, such as heavy equipment operators and boga management, which are designed to increase the competitiveness of graduates in the world of work.

Until 2024, this program shows its success by producing 869 graduates with details of 276 women and 593 men who maintain consistent graduation rates. What is proud is that the 212 graduates from Packages A, B, and C have now been absorbed by MHU and are part of the company's workforce.

Based on impact measurements, this program recorded a Social Return on Investment (SROI) value of 3.59 and a Community Satisfaction Index (IKM) of 3.72 on a scale 4, confirming that this program is not only relevant, but also effective and highly appreciated by the public.

In addition to education, MHU has also succeeded in empowering the Dayak Kenyah community in Lung Anai Village through the initiative of the Lung Anai Chocolate House. This program was born from the potential of cocoa plantations owned by the community, which was later developed into high-value processed products.

The Lung Anai Chocolate House program was initiated by MSSGI's subsidiary, PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU), which collaborated across sectors with the Lalut Isau Farmers Group, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) and the Kutai Kartanegara Plantation Service. In addition, MHU also involved the Nusantara Madani Village Care Foundation and the Faculty of Agriculture, Kutai Kartanegara University, which played a role in providing assistance and training to the community in processing cocoa into packaged chocolate.

The Chocolate Lung Anai house owns a cocoa plantation managed by about 50 farmers with a total land of around 100 hectares. On average, a farmer is able to manage two hectares of land and generate around Rp. 30,000 per kilogram (kg) of crude cocoa beans.

Local cocoa beans are processed into added value products, ranging from chocolate bars to cocoa powder. Not only that, the Lung Anai Chocolate House is also a center for cultivation and processing engineering training, as well as agrotourism destinations for tourists.

As a result of this program, chocolate farmer Lung Anai received an increase in revenue of 3-4x. In addition, women's involvement increased in chocolate trading, especially in the processing department. This chocolate program has also received appreciation from various parties including the Provincial Government of East Kalimantan.

With the support of MHU, the people of Lung Anai Village now have more modern processing facilities, such as cocoa processing machines, drying houses, and renovations of production houses according to BPOM standards. This program is carried out collaboratively with the Pede Nusantara Madani Foundation, Jember Puslitkoka, the Kukar Plantation Service, as well as local MSME players, ensuring continuous transfer of knowledge and assistance.

Mining Support Division Head Wiwin S. expressed his appreciation for this award. He explained that this achievement further strengthens MHU's position as a mining company that is committed to carrying out environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)-based operations, where success is not only measured by business performance, but also from real contributions to community welfare and village development.

This award is a clear proof that the MHU CSR program not only has a short-term impact, but is able to create sustainable value for the community. Through equivalence education and the Lung Anai Chocolate House, we are trying to present new economic opportunities as well as build superior human resources. In the future, we will continue to expand the positive impact so that the surrounding community can grow with us in a sustainable manner," said Wiwin.

With the achievement of two gold awards at the 2025 CSR & PDB Awards, MHU emphasized that the company's growth will always run in line with community empowerment, as part of MMSGI's commitment to have a positive impact in various parts of Indonesia.
