The Government Plans To Stop Exporting Lobster Fry, Here's The Reason

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) plans to stop the export of lobster clear seeds (BBL) aka fry to all countries.

This follows the temporary suspension (moratorium) policy for the export of lobster fry which is currently running.

"The moratorium activity has been carried out, sir. And God willing, in the near future there will be follow-up, sir, the implementation of activities (export termination)," said Deputy Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KP) Diditawan Ashaf at a Working Meeting (Raker) with Commission IV of the DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 16.

Didit said the Indonesian government had previously collaborated on BBL cultivation with Vietnam for 1.5 years. However, the results obtained were not good.

Thus, the government decided to stop collaborating with Vietnam.

Instead, the government will focus on starting domestic fuel cultivation.

According to Didit, his party already has a modeling lobster cultivation in Batam and managed to harvest some time ago.

"Looking at the conditions in Batam and we can channel and raise. It's roughly like that," he said.

On the same occasion, the Director General of Marine and Fishery Resources Supervision (PSDKP) of the KKP Pung Nugroho Saksono or Ipunk said the government would form an anti-export task force to support the plan to stop BBL exports.

The task force will later take action if there is still smuggling of BBL in the field.

"So, the task force will be combined with all officers, KKP, Bakamla, Navy, Police, Attorney General's Office, TNI-AD, TNI-AU. Everything," he said.

Ipunk assessed that the legal basis for forming the task force would soon be issued in the form of a presidential regulation (Perpres).

If the Presidential Decree is issued, later the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Regulation Number 7 of 2024 concerning Lobster and Rajungan Management will likely no longer apply.

"Yes, that will be later. (Perpres is issued) as soon as possible," explained Ipunk.
