JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has received a proposal letter for repairing buildings damaged by demonstrations at the end of August 2025 from six provinces.
This was conveyed by the Director General of Human Settlements at the Ministry of Public Works, Dewi Chomistriana, while reviewing the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly in Bandung City, West Java, Tuesday, September 9.
"Nationally, the Ministry of Public Works is carrying out rehabilitation in six provinces, namely DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, Central Java, South Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara," Dewi said in a written statement, quoted Wednesday, September 10.
In most areas that were damaged, the buildings were in the form of DPRD buildings, office buildings, pedestrian bridges (JPO) to mes.
"The Ministry of Public Works carried out rehabilitation of 43 building units," he said.
Later, all repairs will be made by the Ministry of Public Works. However, specifically for the DKI Jakarta area, the Ministry of Public Works only handles damage to JPO.
A number of buildings were damaged during a demonstration at the end of August 2025, namely the Wisma MPR building in Bandung City, the Grahadi State Building in Surabaya and a number of DPRD buildings, including in Cirebon, West Java, Makassar, South Sulawesi and Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Dewi said that the cost of repairing the Wisma MPR RI building on Jalan Diponegoro Bandung was estimated at IDR 12.9 billion.
"This budget includes improvements to cultural heritage buildings and the construction of new buildings," he said.
Based on the identification of the Ministry of Public Works, Wisma MPR RI consists of two types of buildings, namely cultural heritage buildings and non-cultural defects. Cultural heritage buildings experienced moderate damage, while non-cultural defects.
However, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems are known to have suffered severe damage from the fire.
"Because this is a cultural heritage building, the handling must be carefully handled. Our principle is to maintain the authenticity of the building and not make too many changes," said Dewi.
"For this reason, we will coordinate with the Ministry of Culture so that the rehabilitation process remains in accordance with applicable regulations," he continued.
According to Dewi, the repair of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly is targeted to start at the end of this year.
"The target is that by the end of 2025 the identification and planning stages will be completed. God willing, we will physically start in 2026," he explained.
Dewi said that in West Java, the Ministry of Public Works also received applications for the repair of the Cirebon Regency DPRD building.
