Government Will Add 6 New SEZs, One Of Them Is SEZ Halal Sidoarjo

JAKARTA - The government plans to add six new Special Economic Zones (SEZs).

Currently, there are 25 SEZs spread throughout Indonesia, from Aceh to Papua.

Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso said the determination of the new SEZ was still waiting for President Prabowo Subianto's determination.

"In addition to the 25 SEZs that are already operational, there are still six SEZs waiting for their PP approval, waiting for a decision from the President," he said at a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 9.

Of the six SEZs, continued Susiwijono, one of them is the halal SEZ in Sidoarjo, East Java. He said the potential of this halal SEZ is very large.

The man who is familiarly called Susi said that the halal SEZ in Sidoarjo will be made like the Sei Mangkei SEZ which is part of the halal value chain or the halal value chain.

"Sidoarjo's halal GRAND team will later become part of the halal value chain of the world, which has enormous potential to involve Indonesia in the supply chain of the halal industry," he said.

For your information, the National Council for Special Economic Zones (KEK) noted that investment realization in the SEZ area reached Rp40.48 trillion during the first semester of 2025.

This figure is equivalent to 48.2 percent of this year's investment target of IDR 84.1 trillion.

Secara kumulatif, sambung Susi, sejak 2021 sampai dengan Juni 2025, KEK sudah mencatat investasi sebesar Rp294,4 triliun.

Penyerapan tenaga kerja mencapai 187.376 orang, dan melibatkan 442 pelaku usaha.

Saat ini, kata Susi, terdapat ada 25 KEK yang tersebar di seluruh wilayah Indonesia mulai dari Aceh sampai Papua.

Rinciannya, 7 KEK di Pulau Jawa, dan 18 KEK di Luar Pulau Jawa.

“Kita lihat untuk realisasi investasi itu sekitar Rp294 triliun di 25 KEK,” ucapnya.
