JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission VII of the House of Representatives (DPR) Saleh Partaonan Daulay assessed that additional budget proposals submitted by the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) needed to be followed up.

The reason, said Saleh Daulay, is based on the presentation of the work plan submitted by the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita next year, indeed there is no budget allocation to run the program.

One of them is to support the existence of Indonesia as a country partner at the 2026 INNOPROM international industry exhibition in Russia, which requires a budget of IDR 202.5 billion.

"The additional proposal actually attracted the Minister (Agus Gumiwang). What I see here is INNOPROM, right, the mandate from the government to do it. That, right, the budget does not exist, for example. So if there are no additions, right, it's a bit difficult to implement and that's strategic," he said at the Commission VII Working Meeting with the Ministry of Industry at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 3.

Saleh Daulay also conveyed his experience during a working visit to the textile polytechnic in Bandung, West Java, some time ago.

According to him, this polytechnic is a good educational place. However, he said, there was still a lack of budget there, both for research and scholarships.

Meanwhile, continued Saleh Daulay, alumni or graduates from the polytechnic have never been unemployed.

"So, in my opinion, it is also important to make an offer to the government in the midst of a situation (community) such as now having difficulty finding new jobs, opening new industries and so on. I think that is a very important alternative to follow up on," he concluded.

Previously, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita proposed an additional budget for 2026 of IDR 1.46 trillion.

Meanwhile, the effective ceiling of the budget received by the Ministry of Industry is IDR 2.50 trillion.

"In order to support the growth of the national industry, we convey the proposal for an additional budget of Rp1.46 trillion," Agus said at a Working Meeting with Commission VII at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 3.

Agus said the additional budget would be used to support the growth of the national industry.

"This addition is intended to finance 222 strategic activities which are considered to have a direct impact on the acceleration of industrial sector development," he said.
