JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman claims that rice prices in the market are currently stabilizing.

He said this is reflected in the declining rice inflation rate.

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), rice inflation in August 2025 was recorded at 0.73 percent, down from 1.35 percent in July 2025. Overall, inflation in August 2025 was 2.31 percent year-on-year (yoy), down from 2.37 percent in July 2025.

"We see our inflation rate has dropped from 2.37 to 2.31 percent, and rice prices are starting to stabilize," Amran said at the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) office in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 2.

However, Amran ensured that the distribution of affordable rice through the Food Supply and Price Stabilization Program (SPHP) will continue to be carried out to suppress rice prices.

"But we can't stop here. We must conduct market operations to further suppress prices. We're continuing this in 214 regencies. If necessary, we'll continue until December, because we have stock, we've prepared 1.3 million tons," said Amran.

Meanwhile, the President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that his agency continues to intensify the distribution of SPHP rice. As of today, distribution has only reached 308,000 tons of the 1.3 million ton target.

In addition to retail outlets and traditional markets, Rizal continued, Bulog also distributes through the Affordable Food Movement (GPM), which is being held across Indonesia at 4,000 locations.

For this initiative, Bulog and the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) earned a MURI record for the most simultaneous GPM implementations ever.

"So, just on the first day of the process, almost 10,000 tons were reported, all at once," Rizal said.

Rizal stated that, on average, Bulog distributes 7,000 tons of SPHP rice per day. He stated that distribution is being intensified to suppress rising rice prices in the market.

He further revealed that the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) stock in Bulog's warehouses currently stands at 3.9 million tons.

"Our stock as of today is around 3.9 million tons," he said.
