Minister Of Home Affairs Tito Warns Regional Heads: Don't Flexing, Sensitive Situation

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian warned regional heads not to exhibit a luxurious lifestyle or flexing in the midst of a situation that is currently sensitive.

"Including flexing, there should be no flexing of luxury, both officials and families," he said at the 2025 Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting, Tuesday, September 2.

Tito asked regional heads to also remind their respective families. Especially in terms of dress and using luxury items.

"Please remind each family. Especially how to dress, use rings, watches, jewelry, be careful, vehicles, this situation is very bad, sensitive," he said.

In addition, Tito also asked all regional heads and public officials not to hold ceremonial and celebrations, both private and government events.

"So whether the anniversary, regional birthdays, or other official ceremonial activities are carried out in a simple way, convex, provide compensation to orphans, orphans, to the underprivileged, it is far in the midst of this situation more useful," he said.

According to Tito, events that seem wasteful will actually provoke public anger in the current situation.

"Later, if there are parties, there are music, cut, made TikTok, and others, then compared to people who are demanding the low profile of officials, compared to later creating new ammunition that can be fried by anyone who wants conditions not good," he said.
