Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan revealed that the government has completed the preparation of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) for waste processing projects into electricity or waste to energy.

The Presidential Regulation will revise Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 35 of 2018 concerning the Acceleration of Construction of Waste Processing Installations into Electric Energy Based on Environmental Technology.

The man who is familiarly called Zulhas said the government would also involve business actors in the project.

"Earlier we just completed, a thorough repair of the waste issue, yes. The Presidential Decree has all been completed, which is mounting and will cooperate with several groups for us to finish it as soon as possible," said Zulhas at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs Office, Jakarta, Monday, September 1.

Zulhas said he was optimistic that the waste to energy project could solve the mounting waste problem in the last 1.5 to 2 years.

"Later we will finish it in 3 to 6 months the licensing requirements, so that later we can complete them within 1 or 1.5 years," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE), Eniya Listiani Dewi, said that the electricity generated from the project would later be supplied to PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero) or PLN.

"It's automatic. Later when the waste licensing is issued, it will automatically become PLN's obligation, as an assignment from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources to buy from a waste power plant (PLTSa)," said Eniya.
