JAKARTA - Member of Commission XII DPR RI Syarif Fasha targets the revision of Law Number 30 of 2009 concerning Electricity to be completed in 2026 to provide certainty of access to electricity to the public.
"God willing, at the latest in 2026 the revision of this law has been passed. That way, the public will not only get certainty of access to electricity, but also justice in its use," said Syarif in his official statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Monday, September 1.
He said the energy transformation, including the energy transition plan towards renewable energy, would be accommodated in the revision of the Electricity Law. This step aims to realize the energy transition roadmap as prepared by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
"The government and stakeholders (customers) have prepared roadmaps (road maps), for example, the target of renewable energy mixes until 2029," said Syarif.
Commission XII in charge of the energy sector and mineral resources (ESDM) also highlighted the implementation of the village electricity program which aims to ensure electricity availability in the 3T region, or underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost.
"PLN is also implementing the village electricity program in accordance with the President's direction so that 100 percent of the people get access to electricity," he said.
Regarding the high subsidy for the energy sector, Syarif assessed that it was important for legislators to strengthen regulations so that electricity subsidies were really right on target.
With the right subsidy on target, Syarif believes that energy justice will be realized in the country.
"Don't let the subsidies be enjoyed by irresponsible groups. Through the revision of this law, we want to make sure the derivative rules are clearer and more assertive," he said.
