JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Cooperatives (Wamenkop) as well as Coordinator of the Daily Executive Task Force for the Acceleration of the Establishment of the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes/Kel) Ferry Juliantono stated that State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to the private sector, especially food producers, expressed their support in the operation of the Red and White Kopdes/Kel through the addition of business activities by supplying superior products.

The provision of commodity or product supply guarantees from SOEs and the private sector is expected that operational activities from the Red and White Kopdes/Kel can continue and public access to main commodities can be easier and prices are more affordable.

"The President's hope is that basic goods (base products) can be sold to the public through Cooperatives at a more affordable price, therefore this opportunity can be filled by SOEs or the private sector through outlets in the Red and White Kopdes," said Ferry Juliantono while chairing the Operational Coordination Meeting (Rakor) for the Operationalization and Development of the KoPDes/Merah Putih Basic Food Outlets with the Food Producers at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Food Sector, Jakarta, Tuesday, August 26.

He added, as of August 25, 2025, there were 7,905 active cooperative outlets out of 6,337 Red and White Village Cooperatives that already have at least one business / outlet unit that are ready to be synergized with SOEs or the private sector in terms of providing / procuring food products or commodities to be traded through Kopdes / Kel Merah Putih.

"Nationally in August - September 2025 as many as 15,000 - 25,000 units of Kopdes / Kel Merah Putih can already operate," he continued.

In his directive, Ferry emphasized that business outlets from Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih are not only places for buying and selling basic necessities, but can function as public service headquarters in villages. One of the priority targets of Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih is that it can become a center for distribution of government programs or goods subsidized by the state such as 3 Kg LPG gas, Subsidized Pupuk, Rice for the poor and others to the distribution of other social assistance. Several commodities such as seeds, processed chicken products, tea, cassava, and sugar can also add to the business activities of Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih.

"This Kopdes function can be doubled, namely selling goods, distributing central government programs, as well as playing a role as a warehouse with dryer facilities, cold storage, and subsidized goods handover points. It even accommodates agricultural products and local food crafts," he explained.

He emphasized that the Kopdes/Gel Merah Putih ecosystem is very open to all parties, either BUMN or Private, to carry out partnerships or cooperation in a business to business (BtoB) manner. Regarding the involvement of SOEs as producers of subsidized products, Kopdes/Gel Merah Putih is expected to become agents or sub distributors so that it can provide added value for the community and MSMEs in the village.

"We don't want this Kopdes to actually create competition with MSME stalls. Instead, its position can become a sub distributor agent, so it helps strengthen the distribution network," he said.

With the involvement of BUMN, private sector, and farmer associations and other stakeholders, Ferry is optimistic that the existence of the Red and White Kopdes/Kel will shorten the supply chain and reduce logistics costs. A simpler distribution chain is expected to be able to present subsidy goods on target, according to the price of provisions, and is available according to the needs of the village community. So that Ferry appreciates the commitments of SOEs, the private sector, associations and other stakeholders in an effort to maximize the operating process from Kopdes/Kel Merah Putih.

This collaboration is very important. We open the widest opportunity for all of you to participate in building a better Red and White Kopdes ecosystem," he said.
