The Ministry Of Industry Has Not Been Able To Confirm The Sustainability Of Electric Motor Incentives This Year: Still In The Coordination Process

JAKARTA - The government has yet to announce how much electric motorcycle incentives are to date.

Previously, the government targeted that electric motor incentives would continue in August 2025, but until now there has been no clarity.

Director of Maritime Industry, Transportation Equipment and Defense Equipment of the Ministry of Industry, Mahardi Tunggul Wicaksono, stated that his party is still coordinating this with other ministries.

"We are still in the process of coordinating with relevant ministries/agencies," said Tunggul when met at the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) office, Jakarta, Monday, August 25.

According to Tunggul, his party is still waiting for a limited coordination meeting or coordination meeting related to the incentive to purchase the electric motorbike.

When confirmed about it, he only answered that the coordination process could be carried out through formal and informal communication.

"Right, this coordination can go through meetings, formal, informal, correspondence, and others," he said.

When asked further whether the incentives would launch in the fourth quarter of this year, Tunggul again said that his party would continue to coordinate.

He only emphasized that the program had become a necessity.

"(Since August?) we will still coordinate," he said.

Previously, the Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita had also opened his voice regarding this matter.

He himself has not been able to confirm how much electric motor incentives are and is waiting for answers from the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.

"I am still waiting for an answer from the Coordinating Ministry for Economics," said Agus briefly when met by reporters after the Annual Indonesia Green Industry Summit 2025 2nd (AIGIS) at JCC, Wednesday, August 20.

Not much information was provided by the Minister of Industry regarding the incentives for electric motorcycles.

Meanwhile, at the end of April 2025, Deputy Minister of Industry (Wamenperin) Faisol Riza also revealed the government's reason for not announcing the provision of electric motorcycle incentives.

Menurut dia, salah satu penyebab masih tertahannya pemberian subsidi itu lantaran adanya kebijakan tarif resiprokal Presiden Amerika Serikat (AS) Donald Trump.

"Karena ada proses soal tarif Trump itu yang kemudian membuat kami harus pending dulu sementara," ucap Faisol saat ditemui awak media di kantornya, Senin, 28 April.

Akan tetapi, Faisol tetap memastikan bahwa pemberian subsidi motor listrik itu masih akan berlanjut pada tahun ini.

"Tapi, itu akan tetap lanjut," imbuhnya.

According to him, one of the reasons for the suspension of subsidies was due to the policy of the reciprocal rate of the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump.

"Because there is a process of Trump's tariff, which then makes us have to be pending temporarily," said Faisol when met by media crews at his office, Monday, April 28.

However, Faisol still ensures that the provision of electricity motor subsidies will continue this year.

"But, it will continue," he added.
