Aviation Transformation By Whitesky Group Answers Indonesia's Economic Connectivity Needs

YOGYAKARTA - The aviation industry in the world, especially in Asia-Pacific, is entering a new era. Various breakthroughs were born to facilitate mobility and also encourage economic improvement.

One of the architects who gave innovations in the field of air transportation towards a new era was Denon Prawiraatmadja, who currently serves as CEO and Founder of Whitesky Group.

Starting from a small scale, Denon founded this company with the aim of transforming the mobility of the Indonesian people.

Over time, Whitesky developed into a multi-segment aviation business, launching Helicity, an innovative urban air mobility solution.

"We are trying to build an aviation ecosystem, starting from charter flights to heliports and airport management," Denon said in his statement, quoted on Sunday, August 24.

In 2020, he added, the company opened its first commercial heliport in Indonesia and two years later, Whitesky recorded another milestone, namely taking over operational control of Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport, one of the important aviation centers in the country.

With a strategic vision and tireless dedication, Denon positioned Whitesky not only as an airline, but also as a vital infrastructure provider that encourages connectivity across the country consisting of more than 17,000 islands.

The role of aviation is very important for Indonesia's development. The character of this country's archipelago needs air connectivity to encourage economic inclusion, social equality, and emergency response. Therefore, we hope that the role of the private sector in the development of air transportation infrastructure can be a complement to accelerating national economic growth," he said.

However, Denon highlighted the important role of President Prabowo Subianto's policy in establishing the Coordinating Ministry for Regional Infrastructure and Development (Menko GPK), which was accompanied by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).

"President Prabowo's decision to appoint a ministry that specifically coordinates infrastructure development is the right step," he said.

According to him, Indonesia needs efficient and strategic infrastructure development so that the transportation industry, including aviation, is increasingly competitive at the global level.

Previously, while attending the opening of Hexia 2025 as well as inaugurating the new Main Facility Building (MFB) building owned by Whitesky Aviation, Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development (Menko IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said that the Asian-level helicopter industry is considered as proof that Indonesia is a fairly large market and has an important role in the growth and innovation of the helicopter industry.

The Aviation Industry, especially helicopters, this potential can have a major impact on the growth of domestic business, economy, and employment. And this is part of our efforts to strengthen the aviation sector and air transportation. Hopefully, it will be good for our economic growth," he said.

AHY also said that the use of helicopters as a means of transportation in addition to being able to have an impact on domestic economic growth, could encourage the potential for an increase in the tourism sector in Indonesia.

As is known, many tourist sites on various islands make air transportation, especially helicopters, can help the tourism sector.
