Minister Of Industry Agus Calls Non-Oil And Gas Processing Industry Absorb 19.60 Million Workers As Of February 2025

JAKARTA - The non-oil and gas processing industry is still a sector that contributes significantly to Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In addition, the absorption of the sector to the workforce is also quite high.

Minister of Industry (Menperin) Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita said, until February 2025, labor absorption from the industrial sector had reached 19.60 million workers.

"The non-oil and gas processing industry sector also acts as a strategic labor absorber with a workforce of more than 19 million people," Agus said at the 2025 Indonesian Annual Green Industry Summit (AIGIS) 2nd at JCC, Wednesday, August 20.

Meanwhile, for the contribution to GDP, Agus said, the sector was able to contribute 16.92 percent to the second quarter of 2025.

"The contribution of the processing industry to the national GDP is 16.92 percent and this is an increase compared to the same quarter last year which recorded 16.72 percent," he said.

The export value from the manufacturing industry until the second quarter of this year was recorded at US$107.6 billion or 83.81 percent of the total national exports.

"The manufacturing industry sector also grew 5.60 percent yoy in the second quarter of this year and surpassed the national economic growth of 5.12 percent," he explained.
