Regarding The Update On The 100 GW PLTS Kopdes, Budi Arie: Still Being Discussed

JAKARTA - The Minister of Cooperatives, Budi Arie setiadi, admitted that until now his ministry is still working on preparing for the formation of a solar power plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 100 gigawatts (GW) by utilizing 80.000 Red and White Village Cooperatives (Kopdes).

"The preparations are being discussed. It is being discussed. Later when the time has been discussed," he told the media crew after attending the MPR and DPR Annual Sessions of the Republic of Indonesia 2025 which was held at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Friday, August 15.

Budi Arie said that the role of Kopdes in meeting the 100 GW target is quite important because it is related to national energy security.

"It is hoped that the village will become the center of energy security, especially renewable energy, especially solar energy or solar panels," he said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources reported that it had started a bilateral meeting with the Solar Photo Voltaik (PV) producer company, warehousing Solar. The meeting with this company will expand cooperation in the development of supply chains and the domestic solar energy ecosystem, as an effort to realize energy security that is in line with President Prabowo Subianto's government's priority programs.

Based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Indonesia stores solar energy potential up to 3,294 Gigawatt Peak (GWp), but until December 2024, only about 912 Megawatts (MW) were used.

Of this great potential, Indonesia has the opportunity to become a leader in the energy transition at the regional and global levels. Therefore, optimization is needed in planning the provision of cleaner and more reliable electricity.
