Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said his party was working on a deregulation concept, aka simplifying the rules based on Artificial Intelligence (AI). The concept will be presented to President Prabowo Subianto.
It is hoped that the AI technology support will be able to minimize fraud or abuse in the realization of the deregulation itself.
"Later we will also explain the deregulation to the President. That is now based on AI, we are working on it. If (the AI-based concept) occurs, these frauds will definitely go down," said Luhut when met at the DEN office, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 13.
Luhut explained that the AI-based deregulation will involve the Online Single Submission (OSS) system. The DEN will also coordinate with the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming which is also involved in the investment licensing process referring to Government Regulation (PP) Number 28 of 2025 concerning the Implementation of Risk-Based Business Licensing.
"We have coordination with the Minister of Investment (Rosan Roeslani) because there is PP 28. Well, we have programed PP 28 so that it can enter AI," he said.
He added that the development of AI-based deregulation is also in line with the government's plan to integrate all services through government technology (GovTech). Luhut said President Prabowo Subianto would also inaugurate a pilot project from GovTech in Banyuwangi in September.
"This is a GovTech project pilot based on AI in Banyuwangi. If this is successful, yes, it has been developed. So, our data is really based on AI. So, we can upgrade it all the time," he explained.
On the other hand, Luhut also expressed his pride in the nation's children behind the birth of government digital systems, ranging from PeduliLindungi, e-Catalog, Mineral and Coal Information Systems (Simbara) to GovTech itself.

According to him, this is proof that Indonesia's future is not dark.
"So, if someone says Indonesia is for example dark, go ahead. But I want to tell you, with this it's not dark, it's clear. What makes this all Indonesian children," said Luhut.
"So you have to be proud, lah. Moreover, this (towards) August 17, yes. We have to be proud to see the country (although) still there is a problem here and it will never end either," he concluded.
