Bank Mandiri continues to strengthen its commitment to support the acceleration of digital transformation in the financial sector by expanding the implementation of the QRIS Tap feature in the Livin' by Mandiri application. After previously successfully being used at the Jakarta MRT and at various retail merchants, MSMEs, and restaurants throughout Indonesia, Bank Mandiri now presents QRIS Tap for payment of public transportation in Yogyakarta, starting from the Damri bus and immediately followed by KRL Commuterline services in September 2025.
Bank Mandiri's SVP Digital Retail Banking Yanto Masyap explained, the presence of QRIS Tap Livin' on transportation modes in Yogyakarta reflects the company's commitment to expanding technology-based financial inclusion. This is also in line with the synergy between Bank Indonesia and the government in encouraging the digitization of the national payment system. With QRIS Tap, Bank Mandiri customers can now make non-cash transactions when boarding the Damri bus, simply by attaching a Near Field Communication (NFC) cellphone to a reader machine (reader) at the Damri counter. Users can also select the source of funds from savings or credit cards that have been connected to the Livin' by Mandiri application.
"Through this feature, we want to provide extra comfort for the community, especially users of public transportation. There is no need to bring a card or cash anymore. It is enough with a NFC cellphone and pay directly through Livin' by Mandiri," said Yanto in his official statement, Monday, August 11.
For Commuterline KRL in Yogyakarta, this feature will allow customers to tap-in when entering the station and tap-out when exiting, accelerating the QRIS Tap Implementation process as part of accelerating the use of NFC technology in seamless and real-time payment systems, without neglecting security aspects. Currently, this feature is available for Android devices that support NFC, and development for other systems is underway.
Bank Mandiri assesses the transportation sector as a strategic sector with high transaction volume and high community mobility, so it is ideal to be encouraged through payment digitization. The QRIS Tap feature will also be developed to other modes such as TransJakarta, LRT, to intercity services.

With more than 31.6 million active Livin' by Mandiri users and a total transaction value of Rp1,744 trillion as of May 2025, Bank Mandiri has solid digital infrastructure to encourage massive adoption of QRIS Tap. Currently, Bank Mandiri also operates hundreds of thousands of EDC machines throughout Indonesia that are integrated into the national QRIS ecosystem, including in retail merchants, MSMEs, and restaurants.
The QRIS Tap feature comes as a complement to the regular QRIS payment method that has been available in Livin'. That way, customers have more flexibility in choosing payment methods according to their needs, all in one application. Bank Mandiri hopes that the presence of QRIS Tap in Yogyakarta will be a strategic step to expand access to digital financial services that are more equitable throughout Indonesia. In the future, Bank Mandiri will continue to innovate and synergize with regulators and industry players to create an inclusive, efficient, and empowering payment system.
