JAKARTA - North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution asked PT Danareksa (Persero) to develop industrial estates in North Sumatra Province and the local Special Economic Zone (KEK).

"We totally agree if there is an industrial estate development in North Sumatra. Because the economy must grow along with investment growth, of course," Bobby said when receiving the board of directors of PT Danareksa (Persero) quoting Antara.

The governor hopes that Danareksa, which is a state-owned enterprise (BUMN), will play a role in increasing investment, because the economic growth target in North Sumatra is 7.6 percent by 2029.

This is because North Sumatra's economic growth has also contributed to national economic growth by eight percent this year.

"Danareksa can attract investors to North Sumatra. We also need to be supported by the entry of investors," said Bobby.

The governor also said that the North Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov) would provide stimulus and convenience in licensing for investors.

The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has targeted investment in the North Sumatra region of IDR 53.6 trillion this year.

Until the second semester of 2025, the realization value of foreign investment (PMA) and Domestic Investment (PMDN) in North Sumatra reached IDR 28.4 trillion.

"To achieve this economic growth, Danareksa support is needed so that investment growth in North Sumatra can contribute to achieving the national economic target," said Bobby again.

President Director of PT Danareksa (Persero) Yadi Ruchandi said his party's presence was to synchronize investment policies in the North Sumatra Provincial Government.

Danareksa currently manages seven industrial areas, namely PT Kawasan Industri Terpadu Batang (KITB) in Central Java, PT Kawasan Industri Wijayakusuma (KIW) in Central Java, and PT Kawasan Industri Medan (KIM) in North Sumatra.

Then, PT Kawasan Industri Makassar (KIMA) in South Sulawesi, PT Jakarta Industrial Estate Pulogadung (JIEP), PT Kawasan Berikat Nusantara (KBN), and PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER) in East Java.

"According to the meeting with the President, industrial areas that are still hampered by the distribution are transferred to Danareksa so that acceleration is carried out, including in North Sumatra," he also said.

The government as the main shareholder of Danareksa, he said, has asked companies to be more active in opening and acquiring and investing in new industrial areas.

"Whether we increase it to a Special Economic Zone with a fiscal initiative," said Yadi.
