Pembangunan 50 Sekolah Rakyat Phase IC Dikebut Selesai Akhir Agustus 2025

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is trying to accelerate the completion of the construction of the 50 People's Schools (SR) Phase IC as part of the government's efforts to improve the quality of national education.

SR is one of the priority programs launched by President Prabowo Subianto, in order to provide free and quality education for children from poor and extreme poor families.

PU Minister Dody Hanggodo explained that the construction of SR is not only about building a study room, but also building the future of Indonesian children.

"Collaborating with the Ministry of Social Affairs, PU wants to ensure that this educational facility is built quickly and with quality so that it can be immediately used in the 2025/2026 school year," said Dody as quoted from his written statement, Thursday, August 7.

Dody also stated, in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's directives, the government targets the construction of 100 SR each year. The SR is built for every level of education, ranging from elementary to secondary schools, with a capacity of 75-150 students per school.

He added, in the IC Phase SR Program, a total of 167 prospective start-ups were proposed. The details, 122 from the Job Training Center and 45 local government proposal locations. Of these, only 50 schools passed the verification of the Ministry of Public Works.

"Of the 50 locations, 49 schools were financed through the APBN, 1 school used APBD funds, 9 other schools were new proposals in the preparation stage for the construction of startups schools, which had previously been selected from 19 new proposed locations," he explained.

The Democratic Party cadre said that so far the progress of SR development has shown positive results, with physical construction reaching 60.93 percent until August 4, 2025. It is targeted that the construction can be completed by the end of August 2025.

The Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure of the Ministry of Public Works has also carried out renovations, both light and moderate. The renovation includes painting, study rooms, dormitories to electrical and water installations.

The Ministry of Public Works also procures furniture to support learning and accommodation facilities while attending pioneering public schools.

Meanwhile, technical stages, such as planning, implementation and supervision of construction have started since June 2025 so that the SR Phase IC can be utilized on time according to the target.

"With the spirit of collaborative across ministries and regions, the People's School program is expected to be an important pillar of human resource development in welcoming Advanced Indonesia," he concluded.
