The Elimination Of Tantiem, A State-Owned Enterprises Commissioner, Is Appropriate For Budget Efficiency

Member of Commission VI of the House of Representatives, Darmadi Durianto, assessed that the decision of the Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) to remove the bonuses of the commissioners of SOEs and its subsidiaries was the right step.

According to Darmadi, the current position of commissioner of BUMN is only to increase the coffers of income. Meanwhile, for performance matters are not optimal, it is because many commissioners also serve as deputy ministers (wamen).

"I appreciate that. So the commissioner is used as a place for people to increase their income. Most commissioners don't have work there. Just come, accept bonuses, receive salaries. So that's not in accordance with Pak Prabowo's efficiency program," he said when met at the Ministry of Trade Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 6.

"When there was a time when he came to meetings, let alone in the class of the deputy minister. It was impossible to come. Where is there time to come to carry out effective supervision," he continued.

According to Durianto, the ban on granting tantiem will only reduce the cost burden incurred by the company, but it will not have an impact on monitoring SOEs and their subsidiaries.

"Well, I actually agree. Because they didn't do anything about it," he said.

Despite supporting the steps taken by Danantara Indonesia, Durianto highlighted the rules for removing bonuses for the commissioners of SOEs and their subsidiaries.

The rules must be considered who made them. It used to be the tantim BUMN regulation. If you want to revoke it, the regulation must be revoked. Can Danantara issue it to revoke it. Because this is the function of regulators or operators," he explained.

Previously reported, the Anagata Nusantara Power Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) banned the board of commissioners of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and its subsidiaries from obtaining bonuses from the company's performance. In addition, it is also not allowed to receive incentives.

The instruction was contained in an official letter numbered S-063/DI-BP/VII/2025 concerning the Provision of Tantiem, Incentives, and/or Income in Other Forms to the Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners of SOEs and BUMN Subsidiaries.

The letter was signed by Danantara Indonesia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rosan Roeslani dated July 30, 2025.

"Members of the BUMN board of commissioners and BUMN subsidiaries are not allowed to get bonuses, incentives in terms of performance incentives, special incentives, and/or long-term incentives and/or income in other forms associated with the Company's performance," reads the letter received by VOI, Friday, August 1.
